Laser Dentistry
Dr Gordon uses a soft tissue laser device to address gum issues where more serious issues are not present. The use of lasers in dentistry has brought about many great advancements.
Using the Laser helps to avoid the use of scalpels and sutures in these situations. It allows for procedures that are less painful, reduce the amount of tissue loss, and provide a reduction in bleeding. The use of a laser allows some procedures to be performed without the use of a drill or the need for a shot. Our practice uses lasers to improve your experience in our practice allowing us to provide technologically advanced care.
Extractions
A tooth that cannot be saved with restorative materials may need to be removed. Before removing your tooth, the area will be numbed. After it is loosened from the socket, it is gently removed. Many times, a socket bone graft is used to preserve the existing bone allowing for a future implant.
Oral Pathology
Lesions in the mouth that are not resolving may be pathological and may require a biopsy. These lesions should not be ignored as early therapy can make meaningful resolution. The biopsy may be as simple as taking a small scraping of the tissue for computer analysis or the removal of the lesion for greater assessment and treatment.
